Common household plants are usually easy to grow and maintain in almost any indoor environment. Plants can be a beautiful and unique way to add a decorative touch to any room in your home or office. Just be creative and strategically place the appropriate plants all over your space and you will breathe easier. Remember plants help fight indoor pollution by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen so they do actually clean the air.

You maybe under the impression that you need to place your plants near windows but you would be mistaken. There are many plants that only need a low intensity of light but better yet with the new technology in "grow" lights you can put plants anywhere - even in a dark basement. So go ahead and bring nature indoors.

Here are some ideas to get you started.

  • Take a healthy foliage plant and place it in a decorative pot that matches your room decor to bring some color into your space.
  • Place a large or treelike plant in a empty corner or entryway that you have not been able to find the right knick knack for and stand back and admire.
  • Use some great hanging plants in the bathroom to enhance the decor. Plants love the humidity and will look amazingly healthy without much effort. Go ahead and take credit from friends on your green thumb.
  • Bring color to the dining room table with small or tabletop flowering plants instead of vases with cut flowers. Save money this way and have a great conversation starter.
  • Move around your plants from room to room occasionally to update the look.
  • Use fresh new potted plants to mark the change of seasons as you update the rest of your house.
Many people believe plants bring peace and ambiance to indoor space by keeping you in touch with nature. Add this to how they give even a novice a chance to add a little dramatic, decorative touch at a very low cost and I think you will agree these are great ideas. So go ahead and start so you too can achieve that finished, stylish appearance you see in magazines and also you can start living green.
